Tom Sachs x NikeCraft: Mars Yard Shoe [$385]

2012/05/22

These shoes are definitely what your mom would purchase for you, somewhere around the age of 12-13, spend about $30 and you would cry for a pair of Jordans or AF1′s.

Now, with functionality in high gear, NikeCraft brings to you the Mars Yard Shoe, along with artist Tom Sachs. These kicks top out at just under 4 bills and were designed specifically for rocket scientists. That’s right, rocket scientists. I think this is a very interesting concept and has so many legs (yes, that was a pun), it’ll be exciting to see what drops next.

10 Things Learned @ Coachella

2012/04/19

First of all, I must give credit to Wine and Bowties for this awesome list of crucial knowledge points for a weekend of madness at Coachella. Secondly, shout out to @b_clutch for the referral.

You’ll notice in the below checklist of what to do/not to do/best practices, etc. for a weekend of epic proportion. I must say, this does add more hype to my adventure that I’ll be embarking on in about 24 hours from right now. In tow will be my army surplus store essentials: canteen equipped with belt holster, numerous tank tops, desert storm cargo shorts, and more.

I hope this helps those who will join me, along with many more who will troop over to Indio in the coming years.

Lastly, be on the lookout for my follow-up to “The Calm” after this weekend’s lineup.

Coachella 2012: The Calm

2012/04/14

With all the hype around my first trip down to Coachella this year — all the bands, artists, people, debauchery, awesomeness, etc. I  quickly forget about some of key shows that I’ll get a chance to see for the first time. Just imagine… Frank Ocean on 4/20. How cool is that? I’ll answer that — pretty cool. Hopefully some random chick will pass me that ice blue bong…

But I digress. I’d have to say that the show I’m looking forward to the most would have to be The Weeknd. After putting out 3 mixtapes in less that 1 year, Abel has garnered the most buzz I’ve seen in a very long time. I’ve been a fan since the first time I skimmed through House of Balloons. You know something crazy? There has yet to be a performance stateside from this cat — but that changes this weekend.

Let me back up a bit though… when’s the last time you’ve gotten to see an artist perform for the first time, on such an epic stage as Coachella? I mean, this could be one of those ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunities to catch an artist right before they shoot up to the universe of stardom. This could be that moment… like seeing Michael perform with his brothers at some dive bar before Joe gets the attention of Quincy Jones. Not that dramatic, but you get the point. This Coachella stint will kick off his US tour, as he’s just put up dates that have quickly sold out all over the country.

I was just talking about this idea with my good homie yesterday, and felt the need to put this out into the universe. But enough banter, it’s time to go get ready to hit the road to Indio.

Peace!

COACHELLA 2012 SET LIST

2012/04/12

I can’t believe that the time has come around already! Coachella 2012 is here in 2 days. My first post confirming my going was way back in mid-January, and now I’m preparing to head down to Indio for not only one weekend, but both. Keeping my expectations level is a tough feat, but I’m trying.

Although the artist list has been around for a while, the actual set list that includes what artist is playing where and what time, was just released late last night. I have below that list that runs for all 3 days across both weekends. Enjoy.
